Iron ore laden MV Black Rose sinks of Paradip Port

It is reported that a Mongolian ship MV Black Rose transporting 25,000 tonnes of iron ore fines to China sank off Paradip port on Wednesday night, killing one of the 27 crew members while the others were rescued.

Mr Alexander Liosiko Chief Engineer of the ship, drowned as he tried till the last to save the vessel from going down.

Captain Servey Kamarov and 25 other crew members were rescued by the Coast Guard while they were floating in the sea wearing lifejackets.

The vessel, operating under a Mongolian flag, capsized 5 kilometers off the harbor area after it had loaded iron ore at Paradip port.
